If you have mild, moderate, or severe misalignment issues like an overbite, underbite, gaps, or crowding, braces can straighten your smile. Plus, with advancements in technology and techniques, braces are now more effective and comfortable than ever!

In this blog post, we discuss the best age to get braces. We also give an overview of the types of braces available here at Stroope Orthodontics.

What Age Should You Get Braces?

Every patient is different, with unique dental needs and a unique situation. Because of this, there is no “best age” to start braces.

We do recommend bringing your child in for an orthodontic consultation around 7 years old. At this age, we can evaluate the development of their teeth and jaw to predict the best course of treatment. Some children benefit from early orthodontics at this time, while other patients don’t need braces until they are older.

But it’s never too late to get braces and achieve a straighter smile! Braces aren’t just for kids and teens; adults have great success with braces treatment too!

So, no matter your age, let us know if you’re interested in a straighter smile.

Metal & Ceramic Braces

Traditional braces, also known as metal braces, are a versatile orthodontic treatment that can fix a variety of issues. The powerful system holding the archwire in place delivers dramatic results with minimal discomfort in 12-24 months, on average. Plus, the brackets are smaller than in the past.

If you want a more discreet style, we also offer 3M Clarity ADVANCED ceramic brackets. Ceramic blends in with the shade of your teeth, so the braces aren’t as noticeable as traditional metal braces. Worried about stains with tooth-colored brackets? These braces are stain-resistant with good oral hygiene practices.

To speed up the braces process, we offer PROPEL orthodontics, a treatment that allows teeth to shift faster.
